Nu doar traducerile aveau de suferit de pe urma &#8220;goanei dup\u0103 aur&#8221;, ci \u015fi, cu prec\u0103dere, condi\u0163iile de publicare: h\u00e2rtie proast\u0103, coper\u0163i a\u015fijderea, ilustra\u0163ii cvasi-inexistente.<\/p>\n<p>\u00centre timp, pofta de mister \u015fi ocultism s-a mai domolit, publicul a devenit mai sever \u015fi mai selectiv, iar sectorul tematic pomenit a \u00eenceput s\u0103 fie tratat cum se cuvine, cu seriozitate, ajung\u00e2nd s\u0103 fie scos de sub aura de &#8220;fruct oprit&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>De cur\u00e2nd, Editura Art &#8211; o institu\u0163ie care se ocup\u0103 constant de tip\u0103rirea unor &#8220;c\u0103r\u0163i frumoase&#8221; (sintagma chiar exist\u0103 \u00een spa\u0163iul francez &#8211; &#8220;beaux livres&#8221; &#8211; \u015fi denume\u015fte albumele ilustrate \u015fi edi\u0163iile de lux) &#8211; a publicat un album coordonat de Robert Adkinson \u015fi dedicat simbolurilor sacre. Chiar dac\u0103, dup\u0103 cum spuneam, subiectul a fost harnic exploatat \u00een spa\u0163iul editorial rom\u00e2nesc, poate c\u0103 niciodat\u0103 nu a fost at\u00e2t de profesionist &#8220;pus \u00een pagin\u0103&#8221; ca \u00een acest compediu vizual. Textul, f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 aduc\u0103 lumini noi asupra problemei simbolului, simbolismului \u015fi simboliz\u0103rii, este onest \u015fi exact, documentat cu rigoare \u015fi articulat didactic, f\u0103r\u0103 elanuri eseistice fastidioase. Acoper\u0103 trei categorii de manifestare a simbolului (popoare, religii \u015fi mistere) \u015fi eviden\u0163iaz\u0103 elemente ritualice, mitice \u015fi de spiritualitate, at\u00e2t din tradi\u0163ia oriental\u0103, c\u00e2t \u015fi din cea occidental\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>Dar calitatea num\u0103rul unu a volumului st\u0103 \u00een for\u0163a de impact a ilustra\u0163iilor sale (770 de plan\u015fe, dintre care 595 color), \u00een calitatea reproducerilor \u015fi \u00een layout-ul aerisit, care fac din lectur\u0103 un exerci\u0163iu delectant, nu doar instructiv.
